The board's purpose is to act as a Board of Adjustment and Appeals and Board of Standards regarding building codes and contractor licensing, review administrative error, and suspension/revocations of licenses.

Board Information

It shall be the duty and power of the building code board to act as a board of adjustment and appeals and as a board of standards with regard to matters arising from enforcement of this chapter and with regard to the refusal, suspension or revocation of licenses under article III of chapter 22 and with regard to refusals of building permits under this chapter with the exception of article XIV of this chapter and such powers and duties relating to historically significant structures

Usually meets at the Aurora Municipal Center, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway, on the second floor in the Aspen Room, on the second Tuesday of January, April, July and October at 3 p.m. Meetings may be held virtually.

Two members shall constitute a quorum.

Must be an Aurora resident for at least one year prior to appointment and a registered elector. The Board shall include two citizens not connected with building construction; one member who qualifies for a Commercial Building Contractor license with five years experience in construction; one structural design engineer; one architect; and one electrical design engineer.
